Wellstone International High School is designed to serve students ages 17 to 21 who are emerging bilingual and multilingual students. Students must qualify for English Language Services to attend Wellstone. Wellstone's intentional focus on technology and college and career preparedness provide access points for English learners to succeed during and after their time at Wellstone. Wellstone offers accelerated English language development and a basic high school curriculum with content classes in science, math, social studies, health and physical education classes. Content classes are taught in English and much of the instruction integrates content and native language teaching. Many of the staff members at Wellstone are fluent in more than one language and several speak a language of the students they serve. A counselor, social worker, school nurse and associate educators are fluent in Spanish, Oromo, Amharic and Somali.
